    Curbs to keep Reo-Coker

    18 Dec 2006 - 09:32:06

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley expects captain Nigel Reo-Coker to remain at Upton Park despite the transfer window opening in January.

Reo-Coker's season took a turn for the better when he netted the winner in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

But after being criticised by the Hammers fans and singled out as one of the main reasons for the club's toils at the wrong end of the table this term, Reo-Coker's Upton Park future had been called into question.

However, Curbishley, who replaced the sacked Alan Pardew last week, doesn't expect much movement in the January transfer window and is not looking to lose any of his first-team regulars.

"I've not really spoken to him," said Curbishley. "I know there's been a lot of criticism levelled at the players and maybe he's taken the brunt of it, I don't know.

"It's easy to pick on someone when it's not going so well, but I haven't spoken to him about it - if he wanted to answer his critics then he's done it, but I'd like him to do it again next week against Fulham.

"I know Eggert (Magnusson, chairman) talks about this transfer pot but I don't envisage anyone leaving here and in that month it's notoriously difficult to bring people here, especially if you're in the bottom three.

"I'm not looking to let anyone go and I don't think anyone is seeking that either."
