Curbs slams Bellamy talk
19 Aug 2007 - 10:07:44
West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley has hit out at reports claiming he and £7.5million summer signing Craig Bellamy were involved in a row after his debut for the club last weekend.
Curbishley denied the rumour he had fallen out with the famously combustible Wales international striker in the aftermath of their 2-0 defeat by Manchester City, when speaking after Saturday's 1-0 Premier League win over Birmingham.
Bellamy started the game at St Andrew's and won the penalty midway through the second half which was converted by Mark Noble.
Earlier in the week, Curbishley also threatened legal action against former Hammer Paul Konchesky following criticism of his handling of last season's relegation dogfight by the now Fulham defender.
"I can only say that reports I've had a bust-up with Craig are absolute nonsense," he fumed.
"I can't begin to wonder why this sort of thing is happening. There seems to be some sort of agenda out there.
"I seem to be a bit of a target at the moment. If it is not me, then it is the club.
"What can I do about it? I can't say anything else but that nothing happened with Craig.
"It's completely untrue. I've just got to get on with things."
