Collins suffers calf woe
14 Oct 2007 - 17:08:46
West Ham United defender James Collins has been ruled out of Wales' Euro 2008 qualifier against San Marino on Wednesday.
Collins suffered a recurrence of a calf injury during the 3-1 defeat to Cyprus on Saturday, after scoring the goal that had given the visitors the lead.
The former Cardiff City has returned to Upton Park for treatment.
Wales boss John Toshack will not call up a replacement for the San Marino match as he already has Craig Morgan and Steve Evans in his squad as cover.
Meanwhile, Toshack has decided to stay on as manager despite reports suggesting he could quit in the wake of the disappointing defeat in Cyprus.
It is reported that the former Liverpool striker met coach Dean Saunders, assistant Roy Evans and senior support staff in the team hotel on Sunday morning to discuss the way forward for the team.
