Bolton's loan ranger Daniel Sturridge is Chelsea's only in-form striker

Owen Coyle would not be so presumptuous as to try and tell Carlo Ancelotti where he is going wrong, but he hardly needed to after anothershow of match-winning brilliance from Daniel Sturridge. The statistics did it for him. When Ancelotti engineered Fernando Torres' ?50million arrival at Chelsea and Sturridge's departure to Bolton on loan, he presumably did not envisage their fortunes contrasting so sharply that one now can't stop scoring while the other can't start. Far less that Torres would be the one without a goal. Alarmingly for the Chelsea manager, Sturridge has helped himself to six goals in an eight-game spell that has yielded just two for a much-vaunted ?89m Stamford Bridge strike force of record signing Torres (0), Didier Drogbaand Nicolas Anelka (one each). Dan the man: Bolton's Daniel Sturridge was on target twice, the first time caused a fracas between West Ham pair Rob Green and Mark Noble While he cannot account for Torres' ongoing travails, Coyle had little difficulty explaining a remarkable transformation in Sturridge's fortunes that continued apace with two goals against West Ham. 'When he arrived here, I told him he would be in my team and would have an integral part to play,' said the Bolton manager. 'I just said tohim: "I'm going to play you. I'm going to give you a platform to show what you can do." 'I think, after being a bit-part player at Chelsea, making the odd appearance if there was an injury, it was what he wanted to hear. No matter what job you do, if you know your boss has faith in you, you willenjoy your work. Top of the flops: Fernando Torres still hasn't scored since his move to Chelsea Record since January 31Sturridge 8 games, 6 goals Torres 10 games, 0 goals Drogba 12 games, 1 goal Anelka 10 games, 3 goals Kalou 8 games, 1 goal P.S. Italy Under 21 international Fabio Borini was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge for Swansea City on loan and has scored three goals in three games for the Championship promotion chasers. 'You can see that with Dani. He is such a special talent, and you cantell from his body language how much he is enjoying himself here. Carlomight look at him and say he is not ready yet, but I happen to believe he could walk into the Chelsea team tomorrow and score goals. For my money, he could get into any team. 'I don't know whether it's a case of Dani needing to be loved, but heis responding to being a big, big part of what we are doing here. I sometimes say things to players they might not particularly like, but they know where I'm coming from. Dani really appreciates the fact that Iwant the best for him. 'He's here for the rest of the season, and I would love to have him back next year. The way things are going, that seems highly unlikely. He's not 30. He's a young kid who is getting better all the time, and, just like Jack Wilshere last season, he will return to his club a betterplayer. 'He is developing physically and mentally, and I think Chelsea will find he is good enough and adaptable enough to play alongside anyone next season, be it Torres or Drogba.' Dan the man: Bolton's Daniel Sturridge was on target twice, the first time caused a fracas between West Ham pair Rob Green and Mark Noble Avram Grant blamed slipshod defending for his side's predicament, butany side would have struggled to cope with Sturridge's pace and movement. After curling a stunning opener into the top corner and creating a shooting chance he buried with aplomb, the only frustration for the 21-year old was that he then spurned two or three clear opportunities tocomplete a hat-trick. How Torres must wish his own troubles amounted to nothing more than missing out on the match ball.  West Ham were told to show fight... then Mark Noble and Rob Green went toe-to-toe Coyle: Bolton can cope without cup-tied Sturridge at WembleyBolton 3 West Ham 0: Grant defiant but the drop beckons for the Hammers All the latest Chelsea news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Jack Wilshere, Fernando Torres, Owen Coyle, Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba, Daniel Sturridge, Carlo Ancelotti
