Bojinov snub for Hammers
14 Jan 2009 - 12:04:57
Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov claims he has been approached by West Ham United over a potential move to Upton Park.
The injury-plagued Bulgaria international has managed just four appearances since arriving at Eastlands from Fiorentina 18 months ago.
The 22-year-old missed the majority of his first season with knee ligament damage, before rupturing an Achilles tendon in the warm-up before City's first game of the new campaign.
But despite his injury problems, Bojinov claims he is happy to stay at City and repay the club for their patience.
The former Lecce forward has been mentioned as a makeweight in any deal which would see either Craig Bellamy or Scott Parker leave the Hammers for Eastlands.
"Two days ago, (West Ham boss Gianfranco) Zola called me on my mobile and told me that he wants me in West Ham," he claimed.
"I answered that I feel great in Manchester City and don't want to leave the team. I'm happy the City management values me.
"The only thing I want is to be healthy again, so that I can prove myself.
"Mark Hughes told me that Zola wants me, but City made it perfectly clear that they don't want to sell me."
