    Bellamy faces surgery woe

    12 Dec 2007 - 08:25:13

West Ham United striker Craig Bellamy could be forced to undergo a second bout of surgery to try and cure his persistent abdominal problems.

The 28-year-old Wales international has not featured since late October, with an initial operation having failed to clear up the injury.

Hammers boss Alan Curbishley admitted: "We have to decide this week where we are going to go with Craig.

"We have to decide whether to continue with the route we are going down which, if it is successful, will result in a shorter route.

"Or we may have to go down the surgery route which will be a longer one. If that is the case I can't put a time-frame on it."

Bellamy has scored four times in eight appearances for the Irons since his £7.5million summer arrival from Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Curbishley has dismissed talk of Bobby Zamora being allowed to leave the club in the New Year.

He added: "Bobby was one of the players that finished last season so strongly and at the start of this season he started in the team with Craig Bellamy.

"He got injured up at Bristol Rovers and we haven't seen him since. He is in my plans, but we have to wait for him to get fit."
