Bellamy a happy Hammer
28 Aug 2007 - 10:32:25
Well-travelled striker Craig Bellamy wants to finish his career with West Ham United.
The 28-year-old joined the Hammers from Liverpool in a £7.5million deal earlier in the summer.
But despite playing for seven different clubs during an 11-year professional career - including three in the last three years - Bellamy claims he is happy at Upton Park and hopes his nomadic days are now behind him.
The former Blackburn, Celtic, Newcastle, Coventry and Norwich hitman signed a five-year contract with the Hammers when he joined in July.
"It's a really good club and I've made a really good choice coming here," he said.
"It's probably because I knew a lot of people at the club and I knew what I was coming into. Touch wood, hopefully I'll finish my career here.
"Maybe because of the surgery I had as a very young player, it might not take me to 34 or 35 (years old).
"So these five years are going to be very important for me. I can cement my name here.
"Hopefully with a few better performances I will have a good chance of doing that."
Bellamy has yet to open his account for West Ham in three Premier League appearances.
