Behrami disappointed to stay put

Published: 03 Sep 2010 - 09:18:00

West Ham midfielder Valon Behrami has admitted he is disappointed to still be at the club after holding talks with Roma earlier in the summer. Behrami, who joined the Hammers two years ago from Italian club Lazio, looked certain to leave Upton Park before the end of the transfer window. However, Roma were unable to sell players to raise their funds, and the proposed move for 25-year-old Behrami fell through. The Hammers have endured a disappointing start to their Premier League campaign and are currently sitting at the bottom of the table following three defeats from their opening three games. And while admitting his frustration over the collapsed Roma switch, Behrami expects to be part of Avram Grant's plans this term. "I am disappointed the deal failed to go through - that is for certain," said Behrami in The Sun. "Avram Grant gave me his permission to speak with Roma. "But he also said he needs me, with West Ham bottom of the table. I'm sure I'll still get to play for them."
