Behrami disappointed deal fell through

West Ham United winger Valon Behrami is disappointed that he was not able to seal a move away from Upton Park on transfer deadline day.

The 25-year-old Switzerland international was linked with a transfer to Roma during the summer only for the proposed switch to fall through.

Behrami, who has made 55 appearances for the Hammers following his move from Lazio two years ago, told The Sun: "I am disappointed the deal failed to go through - that is for certain.

"Avram Grant gave me his permission to speak with Roma. But he also said he needs me, with West Ham bottom of the table. I'm sure I'll still get to play for them."

The Hammers have made an appalling start to the new campaign, losing all three of their Premier League matches to date.
