Israel's Avram Grant, who led Chelsea to the Champions League 2008 finals, was named new coach of Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade, the club said in a statement on Friday.

Partizan Belgrade, who at the same time announced the sacking of Grant's predecessor Aleksandar Stanojevic, did not reveal any details of the transfer.

According to local media reports, Grant has agreed a 900,000 euros (1.1 million dollars) annual salary.

The 56-year-old has also negotiated an option for a 400,000-euro bonus if he succeeds in qualifying Partizan for the Champions League.

Grant has also coached Israeli national team as well as English sides Portsmouth and West Ham.
