Watson makes Baggies switch
22 Feb 2010 - 16:01:34
West Brom have snapped up Wigan Athletic midfielder Ben Watson on an emergency loan arrangement until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old moved to the DW Stadium from Crystal Palace in January 2009 and spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Queens Park Rangers, featuring in 16 games for the club.
He has started only seven matches during his time with the Latics and made six more appearances from the substitute's bench.
Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo said of his latest acquisition: "Having lost Gonzalo Jara for the remainder of the season to injury, we've been looking to strengthen the central midfield area and we're very pleased that Ben's joined us.
"Ben's very good technically and is a competitive player who knows the Championship very well. He's played many times at this level and knows what's required, which should help him to hit the ground running."
Watson featured in almost 200 matches for Palace, scoring 20 goals for the Championship side.
