    Upbeat Mowbray eyes survival

    26 Apr 2009 - 11:16:31

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray believes the Great Escape might just be back on following his side's stunning 3-0 victory over Sunderland.

The Baggies moved to within six points of safety after goals from Chris Brunt, Jonas Olsson and Juan Carlos Menseguez.

Albion's victory ended a run of 11 Premier League games without a win going back to their 3-0 victory against Middlesbrough on January 17.

"For me it's about the next game, not the bigger picture. It's an almost impossible job that we face but strange things can happen in football," said Mowbray.

"We now move on to Tottenham. We know they will allow us to play and that we will get chances.

"If we can win that game, then we have got Wigan at home and, if we win that, maybe you will all write that the Great Escape can happen again as it did four years ago.

"The fans have stuck with us through thick and thin and they deserved to see something like that.

"It was not really vastly different from our performances week-in and week-out.

"The difference was we managed to keep the ball out of our net and scored three goals. We were better in both boxes than we have been of late.

"We just have to keep going. I'm not going to make any rash predictions but we will give it everything while there is still a chance."
