Tony Mowbray: I'm better manager despite West Brom's travails
Mowbray was a hero last May when he steered Albion to promotion from the Championship at the end of his first full season in charge. Now they look doomed to the drop as they are seven points adrift of the safety zone with just six games remaining. But Mowbray feels he will benefit from the experiences and from talking to some of the top managers in the Premier League during the past eight months. Mowbray said: "How am I doing this year? I am the same manager I was last year that took the accolades when we got promoted. "I think I am actually a better manager from the experiences of this year and via sitting and listening and talking to some world-class managers who are in charge of some of the best teams in the world. "I like to think I can bring a conversation into a manager's office, sitting and talking about football, and they seem to open up and want to talk about how they see football. "If you can't learn from these people then you'll never become a better manager and yet here we are, sitting at the bottom of the league and the perception is that maybe we got lucky last year." Meanwhile, West Brom skipper Jonathan Greening has tipped fellow midfielder Graham Dorrans to be "a big star in the future" after being impressed with his contribution since breaking into the first team picture. Dorrans has made five league appearances for Albion and has yet to be on the losing side. Greening said: "Graham has been really superb since he's come into the first-team side of things. He has shown the right attitude all year while waiting for his chance. "He is a very talented. He is very young but definitely has got the right attitude to make it as a top footballer. We can all see he's got the skill to make it and he has done well every time he's been on the pitch. "We see in training every day that he is a top player and every time he has played for us he's been brilliant. He is going to be a big star in the future."
