Sevilla warned over Valero
08 Jun 2010 - 12:06:48
Sevilla have been urged to firm up their interest in West Bromwich Albion midfielder Borja Valero, who is being heavily linked with a permanent return to Spain.
The 25-year-old impressed while on loan with former club Real Mallorca last season, having struggled to make his mark with the Baggies since his arrival in the summer of 2008.
However, Albion's sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth has warned Sevilla not to delay if they want to secure Valero's signature.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "The first thing I have to say is that we have not had a formal offer.
"I know there is interest because that is what has been said, but there has been no clear movement in this direction.
"It is one thing that Borja Valero wants to sign for Sevilla and quite another that we have an agreement to ensure a transfer.
"First they have to make an offer and then we will analyse it. What I will say is that we are not going to undersell the player.
"If we reach an agreement, because I do know the player's wish is to continue in the Spanish league, then good, but if not, Borja Valero will have to join West Brom for training because he belongs to our club."
