Robinson seeks Baggies exit

West Bromwich Albion left-back Paul Robinson has asked to leave the club following their relegation from the Premier League.

The 30-year-old defender is the subject of rumoured interest from both Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic, having expressed a desire to remain in the top-flight next season.

He confirmed: "I've got to the stage now where I can't face playing in the Championship again. I feel I've proved myself in the Premier League.

"I'm 30 years old and I've been up and down the divisions a few times. I hope that the club will be sympathetic to my situation."

Meanwhile, Baggies boss Tony Mowbray his players to expect a tough test in the Championship next term.

He told the club's official website: "The Championship is always competitive - it's a league of attrition. There are so many games and you have to get up for every one.

"We were there only last season, so we know what it takes. You've got to be ready for every game, there are no easy matches.

"If you don't compete in the Championship, you'll get beat."
