Robbo denies deliberate act
10 Nov 2006 - 14:08:21
West Bromwich Albion defender Paul Robinson has insisted he didn't deliberately set out to injure Birmingham City's Damien Johnson in last month's fiery local derby.
The Baggies left-back was dismissed after smashing into Johnson, which left the Blues man nursing a badly broken jaw.
"The past two weeks have been very difficult for me and my family," Robinson told the Birmingham Mail.
"A lot has been written and said about my challenge - and about me as a person - and a lot of it has been out of order.
"I've heard Damien is out for eight to ten weeks with a broken jaw and I want to wish him a speedy recovery.
"People have compared me to other players who have blatantly gone out to 'do' their opponents.
"That is totally out of order and it's hit me and my family quite hard."
