Giles Barnes started his professional career with Derby on his 17th birthday after coming through the clubs youth ranks. He is highly rated and made his debut for the senior team in August 2005 against Grimsby in the Carling Cup and made his league debut on the 11th of September against Crewe. Barnes has been playing regularly for the reserves and made his first start in February 2006 against Sheffield UInited.
