Olsson close to comeback
09 Mar 2009 - 11:14:51
West Brom's Swedish defender Jonas Olsson believes his two-month injury lay-off will come to an end next week.
The 25-year-old has not played since the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa in early January when he picked up a knee injury.
However, after returning to full training last week, Olsson believes he will be ready to play in next Monday's Premier League match at West Ham United.
The former NEC Nijmegen star said: "I did my first full session last Monday and I've carried on from there and my knee feels good.
"Obviously it is difficult having been out for eight weeks so I've got a bit of muscle pain elsewhere in my body.
"Up until now I've been pretty lucky with injuries throughout my career and hopefully that remains the case after this.
"There was some bone bruising as well as the tendonitis. The important thing is the knee feels good and it feels good to be back out on the training field again.
"My knee was really sore after the Villa game but I just felt it was the usual post-match fatigue. But then it didn't get better.
"It's been frustrating and I'm glad to be back. I've seen all the home games. In some of the games we've played well and in others we haven't performed as we can do.
"It is frustrating sitting on the side when you want to be with your team-mates and contribute. It's felt like I wasn't contributing and that just makes you feel bad about yourself, that's the hardest part."
