Odemwingie denies seeking WBA move
West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie on Wednesday denied he was trying to engineer his departure from the club and urged fans to be patient during ongoing contract negotiations.
Odemwingie's failure to put pen to paper on a new deal has led to inevitable speculation that the 30-year-old Nigerian international may be holding out for a better offer from elsewhere.
However Odemwingie, who enjoyed a successful debut season in the Premier League last term which included 15 goals, insisted on Twitter that he had no intention of leaving.
A new contract with the Baggies was being held up by differences over the duration of the deal, Odemwingie wrote, stressing he would only leave the Hawthorns in the event of an offer from a "top club."
"To my dear WBA supporters . I love this club and will leave only to a TOP team which is understandable. Nothing abnormal is going on," he wrote.
"Contract is not signed cos of the duration of it. Figures agreed long time ago cos I know this is not real madrid . Please be patient," he added.
