Newton fully adapted to Albion way
Assistant loving Hawthorns life Eddie Newton believes he and Roberto Di Matteo are fully settled into Hawthorns life as the pair hope to build on the Baggies’ illustrious history next season in the Premier League. The Baggies’ No.2 admits he was surprised at the size of the Black Country club but has nothing but praise and admiration for the Throstles after his first season in B71. The former Chelsea player joined the club only last season along with Roberto Di Matteo but has quickly settled in the area and into his assistant role. Newton continues to be impressed by the Baggies fans that follow the team home and away in their hoards and hopes they continue to back the managerial pair next season as the two try to find a survival solution. "I knew this was a big club but I don't think either me or Robbie really knew how big it really is,” Newton admitted. "Full houses every week, with passionate fans. "Even with the expectation and success this club has had they still gave us great support. "You have to have respect for that. "It's a proper club and I think we're getting there in understanding what it's about - we all are. "I would hope that the fans are seeing progress and buying into what Robbie and all of us want to do here. "I certainly feel an affinity, a bond with the club, the people, the fans. "You get to know the staff, people around the club. "It's a vibrant place. "I like chatting to the kit man who's been here for about 50 years and has known so many people over the years. "It's a good place to be. "None of us had a link with West Brom before we came here but, personally, I like it here."
