Mulumbu given Baggies hope
07 Apr 2009 - 14:02:43
On-loan West Bromwich Albion midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has been given hope that he can still secure a long-term future at The Hawthorns.
The 22-year-old DR Congo international has yet to feature for the Baggies due to a thigh injury, but coach Peter Grant has given Mulumbu hope that he still has a role to play.
He told the club's official website: "The unfortunate thing for Youssouf was that he came in and was very close to playing in a game prior to his injury.
"We were then going to play him in a reserve game, but he got called up by the DR Congo and went away with them.
"We're playing at a different level to what he's been used to and it's tough to just stick him in. We wanted to see him in a game scenario first.
"Youssouf's looked sharp enough in training and the boy's desperate to play. That's a great thing to have, that desire to play.
"There are all possibilities for him between now and the end of the season. There's no doubt about that."
