Mowbray snaps up Meite

West Brom have beaten off competition from Hull City to land Bolton Wanderers defender Abdoulaye Meite in a £2million deal.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international passed a medical at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon before agreeing a three-year contract with the Baggies.

Albion manager Tony Mowbray has now signed eight players this summer as he prepares for his side's return to English football's top-flight.

Gianni Zuiverloon, Marek Cech, Scott Carson, Roman Bednar, Luke Moore, Do-heon Kim and Graham Dorrans have already been snapped up since the end of last season.

Meite joined Bolton in the summer of 2006 from French club Marseille and has gone on to score twice in 70 appearances for the Trotters.
