Mowbray praise for Phillips
13 Jan 2008 - 13:35:48
West Bromwich Albion striker Kevin Phillips won high praise from boss Tony Mowbray after finding the net in the 3-1 victory at Hull City.
The 34-year-old now has 16 goals to his name this season, helping the Baggies make a strong bid for a return to the Premier League.
Mowbray said: "For a man of his age he has a fantastic physique and he's a great credit to his profession.
"He's a great finisher, but he also showed great awareness of space for James Morrison's goal.
"He's adapting his game all the time. If you get into the Premier League, you need as many good players as possible and he certainly falls into that category.
"Sometimes that cutting edge gets you the points and that was the case again.
"It's not just about Kevin Phillips though. The team worked extremely hard and looked potent going forward."
