Mowbray happy with Carson

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray does not think Scott Carson is suffering from a lack of confidence after the goalkeeper produced a string of fine saves in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Carson has struggled to regain his form ever since his disastrous display for England in the Euro 2008 qualifying defeat against Croatia 18 months ago, but was instrumental in helping Albion clinch a point in the weekend clash.

"Scott made a great save," said Mowbray. "I don't think he's suffering from a lack of confidence.

"He understands the way we play and gets on with it. He makes good saves.

"We're trying to stamp our own print on Scott Carson as a goalkeeper and change a few things about his game.

"Like all the outfield players, he is trying to take them on board.

"Sometimes, you have to overcome a bit of resistance to the things you're trying to get him to do.

"But if he keeps persevering I'd like to think we can improve him as a goalkeeper."
