Mowbray eyed more signings

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has admitted that he had hoped to make a couple more new signings before the transfer window shut at midnight on Monday.

The Baggies added defensive duo Jonas Olsson and Ryan Donk to their squad earlier this week, but were unable to complete any further signings.

Mowbray told the club's official website: "We continued all night long trying to get something done, but it didn't happen. But I still went to bed content enough.

"We'd have liked to create more competition. In my mind, I'd have liked one more certain type of midfielder and another striker.

"Then I'd have been totally happy with the squad we've got, but it wasn't through a lack of perseverance things didn't happen.

"Things got pretty close, but didn't happen and I'm more than happy with what we've got."
