Mowbray enjoys Baggies life
16 Oct 2008 - 11:08:59
West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray is set to celebrate two years in charge at The Hawthorns with a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
Mowbray led the Baggies back to the Premier League last season and has guided Albion to a fine start to life back in the top-flight this term.
He told the Express & Star: "I came here knowing that within two years I had to get this team up to the Premier League.
"I inherited what was, on paper, a strong squad of players that were in the Championship. They were talked about as a squad of Premier League players, but ultimately they weren't because they got relegated.
"The idea was to come here and get back in the Premier League within two years. It would have been nice to do it in the first year but that wasn't to be.
"We have managed to achieve that one goal and I am just pleased that we are back and competing in the Premier League on my second anniversary of being here.
"The fact it's at Old Trafford is great. That highlights the fact that we are back in the Premier League because in many ways it is what the Premier League is all about.
"We strived for 46 games last season to get here, so when these games come along you have to enjoy them and compete in and I think we'll do that, for sure."
