Mowbray could cash in
30 Nov 2006 - 12:22:23
West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray has admitted he could sell some of the Baggies' star players for the long-term good of the club.
Mowbray saw his inconsistent side drop out of the play-off zone following a 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, before claiming he may wield the axe at The Hawthorns.
Recently Spurs have been linked with a £10million bid for Curtis Davies and the highly-rated central defender could well be on his way in the January transfer window.
"We're trying to put the building blocks in place for the long-term success of the club," he said.
"If we are going to lose a star player then while it is difficult, if the team benefits longer term that is what is important.
"It's about putting pieces of the jigsaw together which work.
"Squads are all about balance and when I hear people saying we have the best squad in the league I think, yes, we have got some very talented footballers.
"But I would have to question whether we have got the best-balanced squad in the league."
