Moore linked with Albion exit
15 Apr 2009 - 09:57:26
West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray has dropped a major hint that striker Luke Moore could leave the club in the summer.
The 23-year-old has scored only once in 32 appearances since his arrival from neighbours Aston Villa in January 2008 and is growing frustrated by a lack of opportunities at The Hawthorns.
Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail: "What I would suggest is that Luke would have liked to have played more than he has.
"Everyone has their favourites, but the bottom line is when we play one striker, I pick Marc-Antoine Fortune because I think his attributes help the team more than the others.
"That's my prerogative to do that. Some people see the sense of it, some people won't.
"Luke has got to work hard in training every day. When he gets an opportunity on the field he has got to try and maintain a place in the team.
"If people are not doing the job that is asked of them, then they don't play.
"Sometimes players out of the team, in the eyes of some people, can be a better option even though they're not out there doing it.
"For instance, if we're not out there scoring goals, the ones who are not in the team can be seen as great players.
"I pick it as I see in training every day or reserve fixtures, not just what the supporters see on a Saturday afternoon."
