    Miller extends Baggies contract

    02 Oct 2009 - 11:58:32

West Bromwich Albion striker Ishmael Miller has signed a new five-year contract at The Hawthorns.

The 22-year-old joined the Baggies in the summer of 2007 from Manchester City and has gone on to score 19 goals in 55 appearances for the club.

He is currently battling back from a long-term knee injury which has kept him out of action since December 2008.

Boss Roberto Di Matteo told the club's official website: "This is a massive boost for the club. Ishmael has got all the attributes required to be a top striker.

"He's still going to be out for a while, but we're looking forward to having him back as soon as possible. He will be a big help to us when he does return.

"Obviously, Ishmael hasn't played for a while, so it's also good to see the club supporting him in this way.

"This new contract shows everyone at the club has a lot of faith in him."
