Leyton Orient 0 West Brom 2: Roberto di Matteo rings changes as Baggies ease to Carling Cup win

West Bromwich Albion eased their way into the next round with goals from Pablo Ibanez and teenager Chris Wood. And it was another 18-year-old in midfielder Sam Mantom who came in for his first senior game and impressed with his all-round game. On target: Chris Wood celebrates his injury-time goal at Orient It was dead ball specialist Mantom whose driven free-kick gave raiding central defender Ibanez the chance to flash a header into the top right corner, giving Orient's excellent keeper Jamie Jones no chance. Albion always held the League One side at arms length although home striker Scott McGleish could have made it a different story when he hammered an eighth minute shot towards the left corner, only for Boaz Myhill to claw the ball away for a corner. McGleish also had a diving header in the second half but it was wide.He also had another headed chance that was aimed for the top corner butMyhill held his point. Perfect start: Pablo Ibanez is mobbed by his team-mates after opening the scoring Orient boss Russell Slade said: 'I was disappointed, that wasn't the side I know. We did improve in the second half but didn't put them underenough pressure.' Albion coach Michael Appleton said: 'We were pleased with our young boys coming in especially young Sam who has matured physically. 'Once he was too easy to knock off the ball but we sent him out to Iceland for experience and he's come back a better player. 'As for the Premier League, that's more difficult and it could dependon whether we have injuries if he is to get his chance. But he has donenothing wrong with his performance.'  Carling Cup second round - all the action from Tuesday night's matchesSign up to our FREE Fantasy Football game - with £40,000 in prize money up for grabsWEST BROMWICH ALBION FC
