Kiely pens Baggies extension
30 Jan 2009 - 12:50:30
West Bromwich Albion have handed veteran goalkeeper Dean Kiely a one-year contract extension.
Kiely, 38, was out of contract at the end of the current campaign but will now remain at The Hawthorns until summer 2010.
The former Republic of Ireland international has made just one first-team appearance for the Baggies - in the Carling Cup - after providing back-up for summer signing Scott Carson this season.
Meanwhile, manager Tony Mowbray will delay naming his side for Saturday's trip to Hull City until the last minute.
Mowbray's defensive options have been decimated by injuries to Jonas Olsson, Neil Clement, Leon Barnett and Shelton Martis, while Abdoulaye Meite, Pele and Ryan Donk are all rated doubtful.
"Whoever we play at centre-half has got to be focused and be warriors for the team," he told the club's official website.
"There are not many clubs out there who could cope with seven centre-halves not being 100 per cent fit.
"Hopefully we can get two of them that are fit enough to get out onto the pitch.
"We'll get on with it and try and make the most of it."
