Fortune favours the Baggies
15 Jan 2009 - 12:37:14
West Bromwich Albion have sealed the signing of striker Marc-Antoine Fortune on loan from Nancy until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old, who has also played for FC Utrecht and Lille, can earn a permanent stay at The Hawthorns if he impresses manager Tony Mowbray.
Meanwhile, Mowbray has admitted that he may allow left-back Marek Cech to leave the club, with the Slovak unhappy at a lack of first-team opportunities.
He told the Express & Star: "I haven't got a problem with Marek. I feel for him at times, because he was a player that was brought in to compete for a position in a team that another player is holding down.
"I've got total respect for Marek. He's a good professional and works hard at his job.
"If he's getting a bit frustrated he's got to see me and we'll sit down and discuss it.
"If he's got to the point of desperation where he needs to leave, then I'll try my best to make it happen for him."
