Dons disappointed as Di Matteo departs

MK Dons admit they are "extremely disappointed" to see Roberto Di Matteo leave the club to join West Brom. The Dons boss left the club to become head coach at the Hawthorns on Tuesday evening and the club were keen not to stand in his way. The situation echoes the one which saw Paul Ince leave to join Blackburn last summer, and the club are now seeking a fourth manager in the past four seasons. A club statement read: "Having enjoyed an extremely successful first season in Milton Keynes, his first managerial position, it came as little surprise that Robby`s undoubted qualities would prove attractive to a club at a higher level. "While we are extremely disappointed to lose our manager so close to the start of pre-season, we recognise that the opportunity at the Hawthorns represents a big step in Robby`s career. "We will now begin the process of appointing a new manager that can build on the success of recent seasons and continue to take the club forward."
