Di Matteo happy with efforts
17 Feb 2010 - 14:37:37
West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo was happy that his side recorded a draw at Cardiff City on Tuesday night, enabling them to return to the top of the table.
The Baggies were missing nine first-team players through injury and suspension for the clash in south Wales but a Gianni Zuiverloon goal cancelled out Peter Whittingham's opener for the hosts.
Despite not collecting all three points, the Italian was happy with his team's effort.
He said: "The feeling among the team is that we're disappointed, especially in the first half when we were pressing. We had some great chances to score a second goal but Lady Luck wasn't with us.
"You want to get a result. I'm just glad that last night we didn't lose anybody because we have plenty of injuries back home which is positive.
"It's a tough division and very competitive. We can just look to ourselves and influence what we do. I'm pleased with the players' performance."
