    Davies tipped to stay

    25 Jan 2007 - 07:45:03

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray is confident that the club will be able to keep hold of captain Curtis Davies until the end of the season.

Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the 21-year-old centre-half, but the Baggies are in no mood to sell a player who joined them for £3million in the summer of 2005 from Luton Town.

Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail: "I'm sure he will stay and still be a West Brom player come February.

"We are only 17 games away from trying to get into the Premier League so it's important we don't lose our best players.

"Curtis will have seen the speculation for the last five, six, seven weekends, but his performance level hasn't been affected because of the personality he has."
