Davies' metatarsal woe
31 Aug 2006 - 13:27:54
West Brom have been dealt a major blow with the news that influential central defender Curtis Davies faces up to ten weeks on the sidelines after scans showed he broke a bone in his left foot in Monday's 2-0 defeat at Sunderland.
It had initially been thought that the former Luton Town star had suffered only severe bruising but X-rays have confirmed he has broken a metatarsal.
"It's obviously a big blow because Curtis is our captain and a very important player for us," Baggies boss Bryan Robson told the club's official website.
"But this means it's a great chance for other players in the squad, like Paul McShane.
"When young players get a chance it's up to them to prove they're worth a place in the team."
