Clarets wants Chaplow back
08 Jan 2008 - 11:45:27
Burnley are interested in taking Richard Chaplow back to Turf Moor, according to West Brom manager Tony Mowbray.
The 22-year-old left the Clarets three years ago but has struggled to break in to Mowbray's first-team plans at The Hawthorns, starting only 37 games for the Baggies.
This season he has made only two Championship starts and the last of those was in September.
"I've had a conversation with Burnley's manager (Owen Coyle) but it appears at this moment they aren't in a position to make any progress on those discussions," Mowbray told Albion's official website.
"Richard's a good lad and gets on with his work. If I ask him to play in the team or the reserves he gets on with it.
"Obviously, he has a frustration in him because he wants to play. While he's not screaming and shouting 'get me out of here' from the rooftops, I understand, as he does, that if the right offer were put to us we'd listen.
"If not, I'm more than happy to have Richard as part of our squad. I'm sure he'd have a part to play as we move on."
