Carson targets England recall

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson is hopeful of being handed an England recall for the upcoming Wembley friendly against Germany.
The 23-year-old has not featured for his country since the disastrous 3-2 Euro 2008 qualifying defeat at home to Croatia, but was recalled to the squad for the recent World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Belarus.
Carson said: "I am not a person who thinks about England until I have been selected. Once you have been selected then you focus on the international.
"This is a big game against Germany and the manager has said that he will experiment with the team.
"Whether that means the goalkeeping department I don't know. It's 20-odd years since Albion had a player selected for England, so it would be great for me and the club.
"It has been an up and down last 12 months, but I am just concentrating on keeping my place in the squad and showing the manager what I can do.
"If he thinks I am ready for another chance hopefully I can do well.
I've had 30-odd Premier League games under my belt since I last played for England.
"I am more experienced and, having already played for England, I now know what to expect from the pressures I would be under and I would deal with it a bit better.
"I feel a lot more confident than I did last season. I've been working hard in training and if you are enjoying your game then you are going to play better."
