West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson has been handed a recall to the England squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland. Spurs strike duo Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch are also back in the fold after missing the friendly win over Hungary, but Chelsea pair John Terry and Frank Lampard miss out due to injury, as does Fulham striker Bobby Zamora. Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs retains his place, while Bolton Wanderers centre-half Gary Cahill is also included, but Liverpool's Joe Cole has again been overlooked. Squad: Scott Carson, Ben Foster, Joe Hart; Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Kieran Gibbs, Phil Jagielka, Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott, Matthew Upson; Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Steven Gerrard, Adam Johnson, James Milner, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ashley Young; Darren Bent, Carlton Cole, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney.
