Bury v West Brom preview

West Brom face a tricky trip to Bury in the first round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1. The Baggies, relegated from the Premier League last season, made a solid start to life in the Championship as they drew 1-1 with Newcastle at the weekend. Bury boss Alan Knill saw his side slump to a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday and will be demanding an improvement. Five outVisiting manager Roberto Di Matteo will be without five players at Gigg Lane due to the international schedule. Defenders Marek Cech (Slovakia) and Abdoulaye Meite (Ivory Coast) and midfielders Chris Brunt (Northern Ireland), Robert Koren (Slovenia) and Youssouf Mulumbu (DR Congo) are all away with their respective countries. That means Di Matteo will be forced to make at least four changes, with new signing Joe Mattock coming straight in to make his debut at left-back in place of Cech. Ishmael Miller (knee) is sidelined while fellow striker Roman Bednar remains suspended by the Baggies. Midfielder James Morrison (heel) and defender Neil Clement (knee) are also set to miss out as they look to build up their fitness following injury. Shakers boss Knill will be without on-loan midfielder David Worrall. Worrall last week rejoined the Shakers from Albion on an initial six-month loan but he is ineligible to face his parent club. Strikers Andy Bishop and Andy Morrell are continuing their recovery from hernia problems but both men look set to remain sidelined. While Bishop remains about two weeks away from a return to action, Morrell has started training again but the clash with the Baggies may come too soon for him. Midfielder Damien Allen, a summer signing from Morecambe, missed the weekend defeat due to a groin strain and looks set to remain absent.
