Brunt: Albion stronger under Hodgson

Hard work on the training pitch paying off for skipper Chris Brunt believes Albion’s hours on the training ground working on defensive drills is starting to pay dividends. Since Roy Hodgson’s arrival the experienced head coach has halved the average amount of goals the Baggies have conceded in games this season. Albion’s skipper revealed how Hodgson has been working closely with the defensive unit and the team as a whole to make them more defensively aware. “We’ve been doing more defensive work as a team, not just as a back four and goalkeeper,” said the Northern Ireland international midfielder. “It’s made us harder to break down and although we’re still conceding goals we are at least restricting teams to very few chances. “We’ve looked solid so far and if we can keep improving on that then we know we have a chance of getting out of it as we always feel we’ve got the players at the other end to score goals or create chances. “The manager knows the qualities we have, he’s specified jobs for us defensively and we’ve done a lot of work on patterns of play in training and he lets us get on with it. “We do a lot of work when we haven’t got the ball. “We’ve become a stronger team.” Do you think Albion are stronger under Hodgson?
