Brunt - Baggies must beat Stoke
Published : 03 Apr 2009 08:50:08
Chris Brunt concedes West Bromwich Albion can not afford to drop points against relegation rivals Stoke City on Saturday. The Baggies are currently stuck at the bottom of the Premier League and are seven points from safety with eight games left. Stoke visit the Hawthorns this weekend and Brunt is expecting a physical test against Tony Pulis' side, who drew 1-1 in the corresponding fixture in the Championship last season. Northern Ireland winger Brunt does not believe Stoke will change their tactics and says West Brom must pick up three points from the game. Good frame of mind "It is up to us to take the game to them and get the three points as draws are no use to us at the minute," said Brunt. "Stoke play to their strengths and use the long throw of Rory Delap to their advantage. All credit to them as they work very hard as a team and, at the end of the day, they are where they are on merit. "All the lads are in a good frame of mind for the match and we know what we need to do. "It was disappointing in the previous game against Bolton (a 1-1 draw). We threw everything at them but couldn't break them down. "Overall it was a decent performance and it will be a similar sort of match against Stoke. "They are a big, physical side and very direct and we will have to be ready for them."
