    Baggies win Robbo appeal

    06 Mar 2007 - 15:41:54

West Bromwich Albion have succeeded with an appeal against Paul Robinson's sending-off in the 2-1 weekend defeat by Sunderland at The Hawthorns.

Robinson was sent off by referee Dermot Gallagher late on in the game for denying a goalscoring opportunity to Black Cats midfielder Liam Miller.

However, the Baggies used video evidence to persuade the FA to expunge the red card from the records, with Robinson having made little or no contact with Miller.

Albion secretary John Evans had earlier told the club's official website: "Paul is adamant that there was no contact and having viewed the video, I don't believe the evidence is there to show there was contact.

"I also believe the best angle from behind the goal suggests there was no contact at all."

Robinson was facing a two-match ban as the weekend dismissal was his second of the season.
