Baggies suspend Bednar

West Brom have moved quickly to suspend striker Roman Bednar who was shown in the News of the World on Sunday appearing to buy drugs.

The 26-year-old Czech Republic international will now be at the centre of an investigation by the Baggies.

A club statement read: "Roman Bednar has been suspended while the club conduct an internal investigation."

Bednar joined Albion from Hearts in August 2007, initially on loan, and has scored 22 goals in 65 appearances for the club.

His transfer to The Hawthorns was made permanent last summer in a £2.3million deal.

However, he has not started a league game for the club since the turn of the year.

Bednar joined Hearts from Czech club Mlada Boleslav almost four years ago and went on to find the net 13 times in 50 appearances for the SPL outfit.
