West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has added to his defensive options by snapping up the Marseille central defender Bostjan Cesar on a season-long loan - with a view to a permanent move.
The 25-year-old Slovenian has been capped 24 times by his country and could make his Baggies debut in Saturday's final pre-season friendly against Heerenveen.
Mowbray told Albion's official website: "Bostjan is a left-sided centre-half and a real competitor.
"What I like about him is that he has natural defensive instincts and wants to win. He's a defender's defender.
"Bostjan is here to increase competition for places in defence and we're trying to achieve that all over the pitch by improving the squad."
