Baggies seal Beattie deal

West Bromwich Albion have completed the £1.25million capture of Scotland striker Craig Beattie from Celtic.

Beattie, 23, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at The Hawthorns after the two clubs struck a deal that could rise by a further £500,000 depending on performance-related add-ons.

"Craig will bring qualities to our team that we lacked last season," boss Tony Mowbray told the club's official website.

"He still has room for development in his game and he will hopefully progress here as a footballer.

"Craig has shown a determination and desire to do well in England and already has Champions League and international experience.

"His main attributes are playing on the shoulder of the last defender. He utilises his pace and power well and manages to get in behind defences to score goals."

Beattie made 65 appearances and scored 16 times for the current SPL champions during four seasons at Parkhead.
