Baggies rule out Williams

West Bromwich Albion are not in the hunt for promising Scunthorpe United left-back Marcus Williams.

The 21-year-old is reportedly on the wanted lists of several clubs following the Iron's promotion to the Championship, but the Baggies are not one of them.

Williams' agent, Nick Rubery, commented: "As far as I'm aware West Brom have made no approach.

"We know that one club has made an approach but that's not Albion. Marcus has a lot of potential, but people want to see if he can make the step up before they dive in.

"That's why Scunthorpe are asking such a high price for a left-back who has just one year left on his contract."
