Baggies make first move

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has made his first transfer window move by signing Slovenia international Robert Koren.

The 26-year-old midfielder has agreed a free transfer switch to The Hawthorns from Norwegian side Lillestrom.

Koren, who is regarded as a goalscoring midfielder, has agreed an 18-month contract with the Baggies to the delight of Mowbray.

"Robert is a technical footballer but also a hungry footballer who wants to test himself in the English league," he told the club's official website.

"He can play anywhere along the middle. He will add to the competition for places - and there is already some tough competition in that area.

"I believe the place needs some fresh faces and Robert will bring a freshness to the squad."
