Baggies line up Hoefkens

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis accepts that he is likely to lose defender Carl Hoefkens before the start of the new season, with West Bromwich Albion keen on the Belgian.
The 28-year-old, who can play at right-back or at centre-half, is in the final year of his Potters contract and Pulis can do little to retain Hoefkens, with the Baggies bidding around £1million for the player.
He told The Sentinel: "Everyone now seems to be aware of West Brom's interest, but for now he is a player we want in our line-up.
"Who knows what will happen with Carl in the near future? Unfortunately, the strings are not pulled by football clubs, but by agents when players like Carl are in the last 12 months of their contract."
Belgium international Hoefkens joined City in the summer of 2005 from Germinal Beerschot and has gone on to score five goals in 96 appearances for the Britannia Stadium club.
