    Baggies face Phillips wait

    08 Nov 2007 - 13:14:31

West Bromwich Albion will have to wait to discover the extent of a knee injury suffered by Kevin Phillips after initial scans proved inconclusive.

The veteran striker was stretchered off the pitch during Tuesday's home draw with Sheffield Wednesday and sent for scans on his left knee on Wednesday morning.

However, Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has revealed the club still don't know how long they will be without the ten-goal striker.

"The results showed Kevin has suffered some damage to his left knee," he told the club's official website.

"However, no-one can predict how long Kevin will be out, or whether he will require surgery, until the knee has had chance to settle down properly. That usually takes around two weeks.

"Our main priority is looking after Kevin. As I've stated previously, he's as good a professional as I've worked with and he was absolutely flying.

"We've ruled him out of our thoughts for the time being, but it's pointless speculating on how long he will be out until we've got the full facts."
